18. Steve Buscemi
Steve Buscemi is one of the more universally loved actors, quirky and charming in his own way. “Funny lookin'”, as they would say in Fargo. Everyone who has ever met him says that he is also a super cool and nice guy; just an ordinary dude.
The reason he got on our list goes back to 2001 and the aftermath of 9/11. Namely, when the tragedy struck, he went to his former FDNY fire house (he was a firefighter before becoming an actor) and he volunteered for the next few months, clearing the debris and saving people.
For years, no one knew about this as Steve never talked about it. Someone finally let the cat out of the bag and he was almost annoyed that this became public knowledge. That’s something else.
