The Simpsons has bid farewell to late Springfield Elementary teacher Marcia Wallace at the close of Sunday night’s show in the US.
Marcia Wallace, who portrayed Edna Krabappel, died in October last year of complications from pneumonia. Shortly after her character was retired from the show, but this weekend Edna returned to the show in a dream.
Namely, in an episode titled “The Man Who Grew Too Much”, the final scene was saved for a moving moment in which Ned Flanders remembers Edna.
Flanders fantasies about dancing with her, before returning to Evergreen Terrace and nostalgically saying, “I sure do miss that laugh.”
Nelson then shows with his famous ‘Ha-ha’ laugh, only to supplement after a pause, “I miss her too.”
In a November episode, Bart paid an honor to his professor in a muted opening chalkboard gag where he writes, “We’ll really miss you Mrs. K.”
