12. Tiger Woods
One of the most successful golfers of all time and highest paid athletes in the world, Tiger Woods was involved in one of the biggest celebrity scandals of all times. In 2009, Woods publicly apologized for his ‘transgressions’ on more than one occasion after more than a dozen women claimed to have had affairs with him.
Apart from apologizing, the popular golfer also announced that he would be taking a break from professional golf. In the months following his confession, several prominent companies decided to end their sponsorship deals and suspends advertising featuring Woods.
After completing a 45-day therapy program, he once again said he was sorry and tried to make amends for his infidelity. Here’s what he said:
“I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was entitled. Thanks to money and fame, I didn’t have to go far to find them. I was wrong. I was foolish.”
Expectedly, his wife Elin Nordegren filed for divorce.
