Since their first arrest, it seems Pussy Riot stars are going through a living hell. The most recent news report Maria Alyokhina and Nadia Tolokonnikova have been attacked in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, at a McDonald’s restaurant.
Their recent anti-Russian protests were obviously disliked after a group of men poured rubbish and paint over the two punk activists, according to The Guardian.
Also, the unidentified attackers threw metal items at the punkers as they were eating.
In 2012, the two activists were sent to prison after the Court found them guilty of hooliganism during a protest at a church in Moscow. They were released in December last year, and since then they’ve visited the US where they took part in an Amnesty International concert and on TV shows.
After yesterday’s attack, Alyokhina claimed she underwent head injuries.
This is the second time in the last month the activists have been involved in a host of incidents. During the Winter Olympics in Sochi, they tried to protest but ended up attacked with whips by the Cossack militia.
“The Russian authorities must not tolerate such attacks on peaceful activists. They must launch a prompt, impartial and independent investigation into this and all such incidents, and bring those responsible to justice,” said Sergei Nikitin, director of Amnesty International’s Moscow office.
