Apparently, Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain did not take the comments of Lana Del Rey lightly, who recently said that she wished that she was “dead already.”
Cobain, the daughter of the late rock star and Hole singer Courtney Love, said that the death of young musicians is not something that needs to be romanticized.
Frances Bean was still a baby when her father, the Nirvana leader, took his own life in 1994. During an interview, when asked about the death of Cobain and singer Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011 of a drug overdose, Lana Del Rey said “I wish I was dead already.”
“I don’t want to have to keep doing this. But I am,” she added.
Cobain tweet to Del Rey, saying that she never got to know her father because he died so young, adding that dying young “becomes a desirable feat because people like you think it’s ‘cool.”
Cobain added that it is not “cool” to die young and that people need to embrace life, because they only get one.
She ended the Twitter confrontation saying that Kurt and Amy wasted their lives and encouraged Del Rey to not be like them, adding that she is “too talented to waste it away.”
So it seems that Cobain was not dissing Del Rey, but rather trying to encourage her to stay on the right path and not follow the act of the many rock starts that died at age 27, not just Cobain and Winehouse, but Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix and many more.
