Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has signed on as a series regular for ‘Criminal Minds’ Season 10.
The star, who previously played on CBS in Ghost Whisperer, will debut on the October 1 premiere and portray Kate Callahan, an undercover FBI agent whose stellar work at that agency has earned her a position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit.
She basically takes over for Jeanne Tripplehorn, who left the series in May 2014 after being part of the team for two years.
“We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast,” said Criminal Minds showrunner Erica Messer.
She added, “Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season.”
This casting is also expected to increase the show’s viewership among young males by approximately 79 million. Stunning number.
The actress is no stranger to the CBS family. She had a lead role in The Ghost Whisperer for five seasons on the network, and recently played in Lifetime’s The Client List.
Her other TV works include Party of Five, Hot in Cleveland and The Lost Valentine. Her movie credits include Heartbreakers opposite Sigourney Weaver, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Can’t Hardly Wait.
Criminal Minds kicks off season 10 on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at CBS.
