Actor James Franco laughed at his Instagram.com dating scandal during the weekend of April 12-13, and joined his colleague Seth Rogen on U.S. comedy show Saturday Night Live to make fun of the controversy.
He hit the headlines earlier in April for attempting to court Scottish teenager Lucy Clode when meeting her after a performance of his Broadway play.
There was also a screenshot of their conversation, in which he asked the 17-year old to give him her phone number. He also asked her if she had a boyfriend and even offered to book a hotel room.
He later admitted he was very “embarrassed” for his “bad judgment.”
So he turned this scandal into material for his stint on Saturday, April 12, by referring to the scandal in his opening speech.
He pretended to read from his week’s diary ahead of his SNL gig, saying, “Wednesday, 3pm: they (show writers) read all the sketches out loud; I didn’t feel like I did great, so to make myself feel better, I decided to prank James Franco. I posed as a girl on Instagram, told him I was way young. He seemed unfazed; I have a date to meet him at the Ace Hotel.”
Franco then appeared and said, “I just wanted to say great prank buddy. I’ve been waiting at the Ace Hotel for three days!”
He wasn’t the only surprising guest on Saturday Night Live.

Actress Zooey Deschanel also dropped by to offer Rogen her help with his comedy, and Taylor Swift joked about her songwriting inspiration by joining Rogen onstage, saying, “You were getting really upset and whenever a man shows emotion, I appear.”
Taylor was on the set of the show to support her singer/songwriter colleague, Ed Sheeran, who was the night’s musical guest.
