The 46-year-old Australian actor Hugh Jackman, who went public with his past skin cancer experiences in November 2013 and May of this year, was recently treated for his third basal cell carcinoma in 12 months.
The Wolverine star is feeling well and has some simple words of advice to his fans. On Monday, Oct. 27, he shared a cover image on Instagram of Baz Luhrmann’s speech song “Everybody’s Free (to Wear Sunscreen),” captioned simply, “SUNSCREEN!”
After his May skin cancer experience, Jackman told Associated Press that he was likely to suffer from the disease again in the future.
“I’m realistic about the future and it’s more than likely that I’ll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie, particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don’t remember ever being told to put sunscreen on. But the beauty of this is it’s all preventable, it’s just about getting proper checkups. I can be typical man, a little lazy, I couldn’t be bothered and now I’m not lazy at all.”
