Rappers and colleagues Kanye West and Common have now teamed up to go through with an initiative to provide over 20,000 jobs for the young in Chicago, Illinois.
The two are now using their fame and star power to help the unfortunate. They are using their youth-focused non-profit organizations based in Chicago.
They have created a new initiative to provide employment with the Chicago Urban League. Kanye is using his charity Donda’s House Inc. and his pal is making it all happen through his Common Ground Foundation.
Chicago Urban League is focusing on creating strong African American communities.
Common used a new study’s result, which shows a great percentage of young people in Chicago are currently unemployed, to get the campaign going and he hopes it will urge the young to create successful careers, rather than live in crime.
He said, “Obviously, one of the biggest reasons our kids are going through what they’re going through is because of poverty. I was doing an event in the neighbourhood and there were some kids… and I said, ‘Man, what do y’all really need? What’s gonna stop this (poverty)?’ And they were like, ‘We need money. Man, if we could work.’ They want a chance.”

It wasn’t enough for the two big-hearted rappers, so they also started working on an annual music festival that will serve as a fundraiser for their initiative.
