Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey has passed away at the age of 67, his fellow band members announced. He died on Monday in New York City from complications stemming from his arthritis, colitis and pneumonia. The band members, as well as Frey’s family, said in their announcement:
“Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us.”
The Eagles were one of the most popular acts of the 1970’s with a number of hit singles, the best known being Hotel California from 1976. The Eagles were founded by Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner in 1971.
Since their formation more than 40 years ago, the Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, with Hotel California establishing itself along with their other greatest hits among the best-selling songs in history.
Rest in peace, Glenn.
