The Oscar-winner Russell Crowe called an Irish reporter, Niamh Walsh, a “plonker” after an interview at a movie ‘Noah’ premiere. The movie star lectured the reporter about rugby rules and that’s where the fight kicked off.
Crowe was interviewed at the Dublin premiere of his new biblical blockbuster epic on Saturday, March 29th. He was visibly angry when she started asking questions about his favorite sport, but managed to confuse rugby league with the rugby union style of playing.
In a video footage, he is seen coaching the reporter on the rules of the sport before cutting it short when she asked him to say something about his recent infamous comments suggesting he actually believed Ireland is a part of the U.K.
Later on, their misunderstanding was revived on Twitter.com, when Walsh tweeted, “At least I know geography… Ireland is not in the UK. #fearlessjourno.”
Her post provoked the actor to respond, “Fearless journo my a**. You’re just a plonker who didn’t get the answer you’d predetermined & you got shirty. Fail… I know Ireland is a sovereign nation. You can imply I don’t love Ireland but it won’t stick, love the place, love the people.”
We remind you that Crowe is one of the actors said to be the hardest to work with, so this reporter is surely very brave to even enter this kind of dispute.
She finally ended the feud saying, “I’d love to hang around on Twitter and reply but I have a life… Off to the cinema… Anything good on? Anyone seen Noah!”
