Representative for actor Christian Bale has dismissed rumors stating the actor will take the lead role on the second series of international hit crime drama True Detectives.
Reportedly, he has been in talks with America’s HBO network bosses to take the part from Matthew McConaughey and/or Woody Harrelson. However, his publicist says that this was just a speculation.
For Gawker blog Defamer she said Bale turned down the part. She said, “The end result is he’s not doing it“, and emphasizing, “The rumour that he’s doing it is not true.”
Actor’s agent Patrick Whitesell also said he won’t be part in the show’s second season. He said, “(It’s) not true. He isn’t interested.”
These rumors came just days after actress Jessica Chastain was falsely named for a leading role on the show.
Her spokesman also denied the speculations, while the actress stated, “Everybody went crazy on the Internet. It’s an awkward thing because when all that attention happens – it takes away from whoever plays the role.”
She added, “I’m a big fan of the series. I’m going to watch the second season just like I watched every episode of the first.”
The much loved drama show, in which Harrelson and McConaughey portrayed troubled policemen investigating a series of cult-linked murders, was praised when the 2014 Critics’ Choice Television Awards nominations were announced on Wednesday, May 28.
