Celine Dion’s Husband Rene Algelil Dies

We were never big fans of Celine Dion, but it is always a tragedy when someone’s spouse dies, whether they have bored the entire world with their songs or not. Namely, Rene Algelil, Celine’s husband of 22 years, died on Thursday, after a long battle with cancer.
The couple met when the singer was only 12 and at first, Rene was only her manager. Over the years, the couple fell in love (we’ll forget about the whole 12-years-old thing for a moment) and in 1994, they became husband and wife. Rene was first diagnosed with cancer in 1998.
He went in and out of remission, but was really having a hard time these last 12 months. It was so bad at one point that Celine cancelled some of her shows in Las Vegas to be at his side.
