Fan favorite Doris Roberts, best known for her role as Marie Barone in the hit family sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond,” has passed away. According to her family, Roberts was in healthy and in great spirits in her final days. Family members say that Roberts was not sick in any way and that she lived a very active lifestyle.
According to her family, she died very peacefully in her sleep on Sunday night.
The celebrity comedian was born in Missouri in 1925 but grew up in New York City. She was very much involved in charity throughout her career and many comedians saw Roberts as a mentor and role model.
Roberts won a total of give Emmy awards, four during her time on “Everybody Loves Raymond.”
Patricia Heaton, who played her daughter-in-law on the show, said that Roberts was a consummate professional and that she learned a lot from working with her. Heaton also called her death “the end of an era.”
