Charlie Chaplin is a man who requires no particular introduction. Still, it’s worth remembering that one of the best actors of all times, the eternal symbol of Hollywood and the man who marked a century, made some immensely important movies, from “The Great Dictator” and “The Kid” to “The Great Dictator” and “The Gold Rush.”
Chaplin was married four times and has 11 children. His fourth and final wife was Oona O’Neill, daughter of the celebrated writer Eugene O’Neill. The two met when she wasn’t even 18 yet and married soon after her 18th birthday, in 1943. At the time, Charlie was 36 years her senior.
The relationship was a scandal at the time, not to mention Oona’s father was absolutely furious about it. The marriage severed the relationship between the daughter and the father and Oona also decided not to pursue a career in acting. Charlie and Oona remained married until his death in 1977. They had eight children together.
