15. Dick Van Dyke and Arlene Silver

Dick Van Dyke is a famous American actor and comedian. Van Dyke is famous for his roles in movies ‘’Bye Bye Birdie’’, ‘’Mary Poppins’’ and in the TV series ‘’The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis: Murder.’’

Van Dyke has won 5 Emmy Awards, a Tony and a Grammy. He was honoured with a place in the Television Hall of Fame. Jerry Van Dyke is his younger brother and Barry Van Dyke is his son.

He has been married twice. In 1948, Dick Van Dyke married Margerie Willlett on the radio show ‘’Bride and Groom.’’ The couple have four children. After a long separation, they finally got divorced in 1984.

In 2012, the 86-year-old Van Dyke married his second wife, make-up artist Arlene Silver. The two were dating six years before the wedding took place. Silver was 40 years old when they exchanged their vows.

Silver and Van Dyke met at the SAG awards.

“I remember seeing Dick at the catering table with his bow tie and his big smile,” she recalled. “Right when I sat down, he was sitting next to me. He said, ‘Hi, I’m Dick.’ The first thing I asked him was, ‘Weren’t you in Mary Poppins?’”

Apparently, Silver doesn’t mind that her husband’s almost half a century older than her.

“I haven’t been married before so it’s wonderful. He’s the perfect human being but he’s also the perfect partner,” she said. “I went through a lot of frogs to get my prince.”

Van Dyke said his marriage to Silver was one of the smartest moves he had ever made.

“She’s very mature for her age and I’m very immature for my age so it’s just about right!”

His wife agrees with him: ‘’He is a lot of fun. He’s not immature in a bad way. He’s immature in a good way with the wonder of a child. He’s just fun, he’s open minded. He’s not stuck in his ways at all. We’re both like children. We feel like we’re both having a second childhood.’’

Van Dyke’s wife also said that her family didn’t have a problem with the age difference between her and her Prince Charming.‘’
