14. Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng
Rupert Murdoch is the founder and CEO of News Corporation, a global media company, and its successors News Corp and 21st Century Fox.
The business magnate has been married three times. He married Patricia Booker in 1956 and he has one child with her. The couple divorced in 1967. From 1967 to 1999 he was married to Anna Murdoch Mann with whom he has three children.
After he divorced Anna Murdoch Mann, he married Wendi Dang and the pair has two children. Deng and Murdoch divorced in 2013.
Deng met the media magnate in 1997 in Hong Kong. They were both attending a company party.
“I met her casually once or twice at meetings of Star TV in Hong Kong, but I first took her out in June [1998] in London when she came over with a group from Star in Hong Kong and Beijing. I was a recently separated, lonely man, and I said, ‘Let’s go out to dinner one night,’ and I talked her into staying in London a couple of extra days — and that was the start of it.”
They married three weeks after Murdoch’s divorce with Anna was finalized. The wedding ceremony was held on Murdoch’s yacht in New York Harbour.
In June 2013, Rupert filed for divorce, citing ‘’irreconcilable differences.’’
Murdoch confessed in a recent interview that the divorce was stressful for him.
“Well, everything has sort of come at once. But I was in an unhappy situation, and all I’m worried about or do worry about is two beautiful little girls from that marriage [to Wendi Deng, whom he divorced last November]. And they come and stay with me a great deal. I feel like I’ve turned over a new page in my life. I wish we just could have got divorced quietly.”
The age difference between them is 37 years.
