The American actor and comedian Arsenio Hall went to his first and only Los Angeles Clippers basketball game, accompanied by the business magnate Donald Sterling who also happens to be the owner of the team itself. The famous talk-show host Hall wants to succeed the businessman and become the new owner of the franchise.
National Basketball Association (NBA) officials want Sterling to give up ownership, after he confessed to making racist remarks with his ex-girlfriend. The chat was taped and went viral last month (Apr14). It seems as though Hall intends to take advantage of this situation as he launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com in order to raise money for his cause.
The campaign started earlier this week, on May 19th. Shockingly enough, the man who wants to become the new Clippers owner went only one game in his entire life. And if that wasn’t enough, he watched the game as Sterling’s guest, although he claims they aren’t friends.
Speaking on U.S. daytime show The Talk on Thursday (22May14), he explained, “Ironically I went to one Clippers game years ago and Donald Sterling took me…! I’m so glad people didn’t have cell phones then, there’s no ‘selfies’ of me and him (sic)! “He called and said, ‘Do you want to go to the basketball game and sit with me courtside?’ and I went and here’s what’s interesting: I never saw him again in my life.” Hall admitted that his mom supports the La Clippers and that’s why he wants to buy it. He is, on the other hand, a Los Angeles Lakers fan for a very long time.

The talk-show host Oprah Winfrey and music mogul David Geffen are also interested in the franchise and if Hall fails to raise enough funds in order to buy the team, he stated he would donate all the money to the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (Naacp).
