Angela Raiola, who became a Hollywood celebrity known as Big Ang on the reality television hit show “Mob Wives,” has died at the age of 55. Raiola endured a very difficult and long battle with cancer. Her death was confirmed this morning on her official Twitter account.
Her friend Vinnie Medugno said that she was “called home” at 3:01 am and was surrounded by friends and family at the time of her passing.
He also thanked all of the fans around the world for showing support for Big Ang during her battle with cancer. Creator of “Mob Wives” Jennifer Graziano also confirmed the news and asked fans to give Raiola’s friends and family privacy and peace to mourn.
Raiola was apparently making good progress in her fight against cancer in 2015, but it was confirmed in December that her throat cancer had returned. Raiola was the niece of Salvatore Lombardi, aka Sally Dogs, who was reportedly a high ranking member of the Genovese crime family.
