Pirelli’s 2016 calendar will apparently feature a nearly nude photo of Amy Schumer, photographed by Annie Leibovitz. Instead of a professional nude model, Leibovitz chose to exhibit clothed women of all fields – that is, except Amy Schumer, who decided to take her clothes off for the photograph. She was the only one of the thirteen women who went nearly nude for the photo shoot. The idea behind the calendar was to cherish women for their accomplishments and power. Apart from Schumer, the portrait series includes Serena Williams, Yoko Ono and Natalia Vodianova.
Leibovitz praised Schumer, saying that she managed to capture a genuine moment in the photograph with her help. To quote her:
“It was as if she didn’t get the memo, but if you look at her, that was a true moment; she actually picked up the cup of coffee and started drinking it. That was her coffee, and I said, ‘That’s it!'”
Schumer expressed her own delight about working with Leibovitz, admitting that she never thought she looked more beautiful and natural. She quickly shared the photograph on Twitter, captioning it, “Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless, woman. Thank you @annieleibovitz.”
