12 Years A Slave And Gravity Rocks Satellite Awards
The 18th Annual Satellite Awards on Sunday were the latest ceremony dominated by 12 Years A Slave and Gravity. The slavery saga won the Best Motion Picture titke, while Steve McQueen went home with the trophy for Best Director.
Expectedly, Gravity received the award for Original Score, Visual Effects and Sound, becoming the most awarded movie of the night.
Furthermore, Matthew McConaughey and Cate Blanchett were named Best Actor and Best Actress for their roles in Dallas Buyers Club and Blue Jasmine, respectively.
Matthew’s co-star Jared Leto received Best Actor in a Supporting Role, while June Squibb received Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Nebraska.
David O. Russell’s con-artist movie American Hustle was handed two awards – Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay. Lana Del Rey’s song “Young and Beautiful” gave The Great Gatsby an award for Original Song, followed by Art Direction and Production Design.
Bryan Cranston received Best Actor in a Series for his role in Breaking Bad, which received three awards. Aaron Paul was handed the Best Supporting Actor trophy, and the show won the prominent award for Best Television Series.
American director and screenwriter Ryan Coogler received the Honorary Satellite Award.
