Famed television and film director Garry Marshall has passed away at the age of 81.
Marshall is best known as the creator and director of iconic and incredibly popular 1970s television shows like “Happy Days” and “The Odd Couple.”
However, Marshall never stayed in one medium too long, and had as much success on the big screen as he did on the small one. He went on to direct equally popular and influential movies like “Pretty Woman,” “Beaches,” and “Runaway Bride.”
A work-a-holic, the celebrity director worked until his final days. According to his representatives, he just got finished rewriting a musical adaptation of “Pretty Woman” for Broadway.
According to the family, the funeral service is going to private. However, there is a public memorial that’s being planned for the New York native’s birthday on November 13.
Celebrities from television and Hollywood who knew Marshall personally and worked with him over the years took to social media to express their sadness over his death and speak about what a great person and professional Marshall was during his lifetime.
