The results of the 2016 BAFTA awards are here and it looks like “The Revenant” came out on top, receiving awards for best film, best actor and best director, as well as for best cinematography and best sound. The film’s director Alejandro Inarritu praised DiCaprio for his performance, talent and commitment to the “risky project” and even said that he was responsible for “keeping the film breathing.”
“Mad Max: Fury Road” won four awards while “Carol,” Todd Haynes’ movie that snagged quite a few nominations earlier this year, scooped none.
The host of the evening was once again Stephen Fry, but awards were also presented by Idris Elba, Tom Cruise and Cuba Gooding Jr.
Since the award ceremony fell on Valentine’s Day, BAFTA set up a Kiss Cam aimed at couples in the audience, such as Fassbender and Vikander and even Leonardo DiCaprio and Maggie Smith (that moment was really epic).
