What a wonderful country we live in. Even if someone as huge as Sony Music steals something of yours and uses it in a song by someone as huge as Britney Spears, you can still sue them and get justice. Or at least this is the theory.
In reality, someone as huge as Sony Music simply snows you under all kinds of legal stuff and when the money runs out, you have no option but bow out and let them do what they want.
This is exactly what happened to a guy called Kirk Rothum who sued Sony Music for using sounds from his sound library (the sexy “uhhs” and “oh yeahs”) on Britney’s Piece of Me without paying him a single cent.
Poor guy.
