You have probably heard the news that one of the biggest music acts of the 90s, TLC have gone to Kickstarter to try and fund the production of their new album after more than 12 years spent on hiatus. They announced that they got their first celebrity backer in Katy Perry who pledged $5,000.
We learned of this on Twitter (where else?) when T-Boz tweeted, “A BIG Special THANK YOU 2 @katyperry for her pledge to our #Kickstarter Campaign!”
Chilli added, “Wow @katyperry…thanks so much for pledging!”
TLC never officially disbanded, although they have been inactive for more than a decade, following the tragic death of the third member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in a car crash in 2002.
T-Boz and Chilli, the surviving two members, started a Kickstarter campaign looking to raise $150, 000 to record a new album and the goal was surpassed a few days ago so we can expect to hear it as soon as the girls get in the studio.
