Lady Gaga Reveals She Was Raped At 19

Lady Gaga claims she was sexually assaulted as a teenager by a man she says was 20 years older than her. She made the shocking confession during a conversation with US radio host Howard Stern about a controversial performance of her song Swine. Stern said the lyrics suggested she had been raped by a record producer and Gaga confirmed.
“I went through some horrific things that I’m able to laugh [at] now, because I’ve gone through a lot of mental and physical therapy and emotional therapy to heal over the years. My music has been wonderful for me. I was a shell of my former self at one point. I was not myself. To be fair, I was about 19. I went to Catholic school and then all this crazy stuff happened, and I was going, ‘Oh, is this just the way adults are?’ I was very naive.”
She confessed she was very traumatized by the horrible experience and didn’t come to terms with it until five years later.
“I was like, just keep going. […] I wasn’t even willing to admit that anything had even happened. I didn’t tell anybody. I didn’t even tell myself for the longest time.”
However, the pop star added that she refused to be defined by the traumatic incident.
“I’ll be damned if somebody is gonna say that every creatively intelligent thing I ever did is boiled down to one d******* that did that to me.”
