James Bond Villain Richard Kiel Dies

Richard Kiel who portrayed the villain Jaws in two of the hit Sir Roger Moore movies, died in California just three days prior to his 75th birthday.

The actor, who also appeared in the 1996 Adam Sandler movie ‘Happy Gilmore’, was best known for his villainous portrayal of the bad guy in Bond classics ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ and ‘Moonraker’. He died in hospital in Fresno, California, on Wednesday, September 10, TMZ first reported. The cause of death has not been disclosed yet.

Former Bond star Moore took to Twitter.com to pay his tribute.

“I am totally distraught to learn of my dear friend Richard Kiel’s passing. We were on a radio programme together just a week ago. Distraught. Can’t take it in.”

Actress Barbara Eden, who appeared with Richard in the 1960s sitcom ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ also paid her respects.

“Many fond memories of Richard Kiel, sweet man & gentle giant. My thoughts & prayers to his family & friends.”
