Late Night Reacts To News Of Robin Williams’ Death

While there were many reactions from colleagues and various other celebrities and fans from around the world when news spread that actor and comedian Robin Williams had died, some of the most poignant tributes came from late night talk show hosts, many of which were filming their daily shows when the news broke. Two of the most interesting tributes came courtesy of Jimmy Fallon and Conan O’Brien.
That night’s episode of The Tonight Show did not start with the regular “hello,” but with “nanunanu,” which is the greeting used by Williams’ character Mork on the classic 70s sitcom Mork and Mindy. This was the way in which Questlove of The Roots, Fallon’s house band, wanted to pay tribute to the late comic.
Fallon then talked about Williams as well, calling him the “Muhammad Ali of comedy” and said that the world is “never going to see anyone like this human ever.”
Conan had a very honest and heartfelt response as well. He said:
It’s an impossible thing to process, obviously, and here we are now, 24 hours later, Everybody knows that side of him, but what I think a lot of people don’t know — you’re starting to hear all the stories come out now — is how crazily generous. He was so generous, such a nice person.
He also gave an anecdote of when Williams bought him a very ugly looking bike on purpose.
