Tarantino’s ‘Hateful Eight’ Will Be Made

Speaking at Comic-Con in San Diego on Sunday, July 27, the famous director confirmed that he’s working to bring a western to the big screen, dismissing previous statements that he would shelve the project after the script was leaked online.
Tarantino, who was at the convention to promote his upcoming “Django/Zorro” comic book, said during an audience Q&A, “Yeah, we’re going to be doing ‘The Hateful Eight,’” according to IGN.
He added, “We weren’t sure about it, but I just decided just now.”
The film tells a story about a mistrustful group of motley characters, including two competing bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier and a female prisoner, which are stranded by a blizzard in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.
Tarantino’s announcement confirmed widespread speculation that the movie mastermind would eventually make the movie, despite complaining to Deadline Hollywood in January 2014 that the script had leaked and as a result, he would shelve the film and publish the screenplay as a book instead.
However, Tarantino also became embroiled in a legal dispute with Gawker Media, whom he sued for copyright infringement after the company posted third-party download links to the script on its Defamer blog. He eventually withdrew the lawsuit.
In April, he directed a reading of “The Hateful Eight” with an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Amber Tamblyn and Kurt Russell, at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, where he dropped hints that he was still working on the movie.
Russell told “Good Day Philadelphia” that “The Hateful Eight” will probably start shooting early next year.
