Lindsay Lohan is filing a law suit against the creators of Grand Theft Auto V as the actress is allegedly convinced that a character in the game named Lacey Jonas, is based on her.
She celebrated her birthday on July 2 by filing a lawsuit against gaming companies Rockstar and Take Two Interactive.
Lacey Jonas is an air brained Hollywood starlet concerned about her looks and escaping the paparazzi. According to TMZ, one mission within the game involves rescuing the starlet from paparazzi, and another requires the player to sneak into a hotel in order to film Jonas having sex.
As the Independent reports, the character allegedly based on Lohan shouts during the former scenario “I am so f*cking fat, oh my God they cannot get a shot of me,” and “Don’t hurt them [the paparazzi], I don’t need any more lawsuits!”
Lohan’s case appears to rest on the two key points. Firstly, the character does look like the actress. Secondly, the hotel in which the character is required to film her having sex resembles L.A.’s Chateau Marmont. Lohan frequently stays at the hotel, and has even lived there in 2012 while filming the Elizabeth Taylor biopic Liz & Dick.
Presumably the creators of Grand Theft Auto V will be asked to reveal who was the inspiration behind the character, and if they did use the actress as a basis for Lacey Jonas. However, the character would probably be considered a parody and not an actual representative of the actress. Under US Copyright laws, it is considered legal.
