Tracy Morgan was involved in a six-vehicle car accident on Saturday, June 7, which resulted in the death of one person. Morgan is in critical condition and he had surgery after the crash. The accident took place in Cranbury, New Jersey and involved two tractor trailers, two cars, and one SUV. Comedian Jack McNair died in the crash.
“While Tracy remains in critical condition, he has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign,” Morgan’s rep told Us Weekly. “He sustained a number of injuries including a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. He had surgery earlier today on his leg. We expect him to remain in the hospital for several weeks. His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
Apparently, the truck driver is responsible for the collision. According to the Independent, he failed to notice slow traffic ahead which resulted in a chain crash.
“Although the investigation is still pending, we concur with the preliminary reports that the accident was caused by another vehicle traveling behind the Atlantic limo bus,” said Atlantic Transportation Services, the company that owned Morgan’s limo.
One of Walmart’s trucks was involved in the accident and president Bill Simons said that Walmart would take full responsibility if their truck caused the crash.
“We’re praying for the family and friends of the passenger who lost his life in the terrible accident” the statement said.
“Our hearts go out to everyone involved and we hope those who were injured get the care that they need and make a full recovery.”
