Paulson and Farmiga Reveal Secret Rivalry

Actress Sarah Paulson, who played the role of Mistress Epps in 12 Years a Slave, learned from actress Vera Farmiga that she wanted that role very badly when it was being cast.
This was revealed during an interview for a show called TV Drama Queens, in which other actresses like Claire Daines and Julianna Margulies also participated in.
Paulson was talking about how it was to prepare for the role. She played the racist wife of the character Edwin Epps, who was played by Michael Fassbender. And while Paulson was telling the story, Farmiga interjected and said that she really wanted that part as well.
She said that she wanted the role because it was a high stakes role. Farmiga added that she made a huge audition tape for the role really put a lot of effort into getting the attention of the people who were casting the film.
Paulson was very surprised by this, saying that she had no idea that Farmiga auditioned for that part and that she wanted it so badly. She then said that she auditioned with the same exact scene before getting the part.
She added that she auditioned wearing an outfit that she already had in her closet, which she said was terrifying. Paulson added that she wanted the part just as much.
Obviously, she is really glad she got it because the film was considered to be the best movie of 2013 and won three Oscars at the Academy Awards.
