Troubled TV star Lindsay Lohan blames her recent alleged miscarriage for being absent from court in her ongoing battle with former fashion co-workers.
In 2013, the star filed a $1.1 million (£687,500) lawsuit against the clothing manufacturers at D.N.A.M. Apparel Industries. She was caught in a bitter dispute with them after she claimed she was cheated out of her share of profits when a 2009 business deal failed.
However, they countersued the star for breach of contract and fraud, also naming her “drug-addled image” and legal struggles for making it impossible to sell her 6126 Collection to retailers.
The star has also been fighting for trademark infringement, and insisted the brand belonged to her. The default judgment was entered against her in December 2013 after she failed to respond to their executives’ legal documents.
She appealed to a Los Angeles judge to give her extra time to continue to fight the claims on Thursday, May 1.
The star, who completed a court-ordered rehab stint in 2013, sent an apologetic note ti the judge. She wrote, “I apologize to the court in the delay in seeking relief but I have been overwhelmed since leaving rehab and dealing with my sobriety and a miscarriage.”
She revealed the sad news about her miscarriage during the finale of her U.S. reality TV show Lindsay, which aired in April.
However, the name of the baby’s father remained secret.
