Actress Scarlett Johansson surprised some lonely hitchhikers while filming in Scotland. She was on the set of her new sci-fi drama Under The Skin.
She portrays an alien femme fatal who preys on men. In order to get into the role, director Jonathan Glazer suggested she should actually pick up some hitchhikers on the road in Glasgow, where the filming is taking place.
In an interview on Queen Latifah’s talk show on Tuesday, April 1st, the actress stated, “I had sort of a candid camera/prank moment with everyday people getting in and out of my van.”
“The director said to me, ‘I have a great idea, I think you should be driving around the streets of Glasgow picking up regular people.‘ I was like, ‘That’s a terrible idea.’ ”She added, “I called my agent (crying), ‘They’re not paying me, it’s freezing, I’m supposed to pick up random strangers. There’s no craft (food) service!”

Scarlett eventually agreed to try herself at the role and managed to trick people into believing she was not a Hollywood star during the experiment.
She also explained, “People are very trusting, which is a wonderful thing. I first asked them for directions, of course. Like, ‘Where are you headed on this lonely road? It’s freezing out there. I can give you a ride, if you like.’ That’s all it takes. That and a smear of red lipstick and you’d be surprised.”
