Hollywood actress Shailene Woodley was having trouble breathing while wearing a brace to help her with her curved spine.
This 22-year old was diagnosed with scoliosis when she was 15.
She had to wear an uncomfortable plastic splint from chest to hips every day during a 2-year period to help her straighten her spine.
She found it very difficult to live with the brace, “It’s like wearing a tacky, disgusting, plastic corset for 18 hours a day. In the beginning, it was hard to eat or breathe and I had to give up cross-country running. But I needed to have it to realign my spine.”
She is best known for portraying Amy Juergens in the ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager and for co-starring with George Clooney in the 2011 film The Descendants, which won her the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture.
