7. Montel Williams
Perhaps the most famous face of MS, Montel Williams has devoted his life to health and awareness. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999, and he immediately decided to do something about it, but not just for his own good.
He started a MS Foundation, a non-profit organization with a focus on research and education. He is also an avid marijuana legalization supporter, since it helped him immensely with his condition.
He had the misfortune of being misdiagnosed a number of times since no one expected an African-American male in his twenties to suffer from MS, a disease that usually affects Caucasians of north European descent. He says that finally being diagnosed and learning what was wrong with him was a great boost, even though the diagnosis was dire.
