Perhaps the most famous face of lupus, Toni Braxton, doesn’t hide her disease from the world. In fact, it’s often a common topic on her hit show Braxton Family Values. During the season finale of the show, the beautiful singer told her family and fans that she suffers from lupus, an autoimmune disease that sent her to hospital on two occasions.
Ever since she was diagnosed, she’s been raising awareness and helping those who suffer from this vicious disease. When she received one of two Women in Achievement awards at the 8th Annual Bag Ladies Luncheon, she stated, “Take a look, this is what lupus looks like,” she said.
As defined on the Lupus Foundation of America’s website: “Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body).
