20. Teri Garr
Every self-respecting fan of comedy knows very well who Teri Garr is. While her career started back in the 1960s, it was not until 1974 that movie fans noticed her with her roles in Coppola’s Conversation and Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein. In 1982, she was nominated for an Oscar for her role in another comedic gem, Tootsie.
In 2002, Teri came forward with the news she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She said that the main reason she came out was to let other people know they are not alone in struggling with this condition.
Since then, she has been very active in bringing attention to MS, emphasizing the importance of research and education. She even received the Ambassador of the Year Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at one point.
