Shannen Doherty is most famous as Brenda on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Prue on Charmed. In 1999, Shannen was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and had to live with it ever since.
Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease where a person’s immune system attacks the digestive tract for some reason, causing both inflammation and damage to the tissue. It is among the most common autoimmune diseases, but that does not make it any less debilitating.
Shannen herself has kept pretty much all of her battles against the disease under wraps. She says that she never found anything sexy about a woman who talks about a disease that affects her bowel movements. Vain to the end. Kudos.
