Then, he had the audacity to write a piece for the Wall Street Journal that claimed it was performance art.
This was, and still is, a difficult time for TV soap operas, and Franco asked the legitimate question: “My hope was for people to ask themselves if soap operas are really that far from entertainment that is considered critically legitimate. Whether they did was out of my hands.”
