Not many people know that Cruise is not really Tom Cruise’s real last name. He was actually born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV. Tom might have gotten the better genes, but if you look at the two closely, you can probably see some similarities with William Mapother.
While everyone knows who Cruise is, not many people know his cousin. He is a character actor that has appeared in some popular television shows, including Lost and The Mentalist. However, William says that he still has to answer questions about Cruise on the regular.
He said that the questions about Tom are slowly going away as he forges a career of his own, but that he still gets bugged about it.
It’s hard having a cousin that is so successful. Cruise is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood and William can really compare his career.
However, William Mapother has never used Tom as an “in” for roles and continues to work hard perfecting his craft in order to build a career for himself.
