14. Janet Jackson
Openly struggling with her weight over the years, the Superstar is now completely happy with her weight loss and present weight. How much has she lost? Don’t know; she won’t step on the scales.
Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, the youngest of ten children, to Katherine Esther and Joseph Walter Jackson, who devout Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was interested entertainment from an early age but after signing a recording contract with A&M, she came to prominence following the release of her third studio album, Control (1986).
Having sold over 140 million records, she is ranked as one of the best-selling artists in the history of contemporary music and in 2012, Billboard declared Jackson the seventh most successful female artist of the past twenty years, the ninth most successful overall, and was previously ranked second during the mid-decade.
Regarding her weight loss, the singer told People magazine: “I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost, only because I stay away from the scale.’I don’t think [stepping on the scale] is healthy.”
She is currently the new spokesperson for weight-loss program Nutrisystem, which helped her shed all those pounds: “It works, point blank,” she said. “You don’t have to starve yourself getting there.”
However, she does cheat a little bit: “I love caramel apples! NutriSystem doesn’t have that, so that’s probably my cheat food.”
