11. Rosario Dawson

Rosario is probably one of the biggest fans of Star Trek in Hollywood. She also created her own comic called “Occult Crimes Taskforce”, and speaks perfect Klingon! Yes, she speaks perfect Klingon, which she proved during several TV interviews. In your face, geeks!

As a New Yorker of Caribbean origin, she used to live in a squat apartment building, and learned the hardships of life. Her career started off in a strange manner, as was the movie for which she got her first role.

The young Dawson was approached while sitting on her porch for a role in the low budget, disturbing, and now cult movie The Kids (1995). Later on, she also starred in Sin City, The Clerks II, Death Proof, among many others.

She attended an alternative school in downtown Manhattan, where she dreamed of one day becoming a marine biologist. Eventually, she finished distinguishable The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, along with such stars as Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Dennis Hopper and Julia Roberts.

Dawson was successful as a co-creator the comic book “Occult Crimes Taskforce.” As a multitalented star, she was featured with some notable artists. For instance, she sang with Prince for the re-release of his 1980s hit “1999” and made an appearance in The Chemical Brothers’ video for the song “Out of Control” from the album “Surrender”. Outcast also featured her in their track “She Lives In My Lap”.

Like a lot of other intelligent actors, she has been active in humanitarian organizations, fighting for political, social and environmental causes with the Lower East Side Girls Club, Global Cool, the O.N.E. Campaign, Oxfam, Amnesty International, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, Control Arms, International Rescue Committee, Voto Latino (which she founded), Conservation International, Doctors Without Borders, National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy, and Save The Children.

She is a valuable example to every other movie celebrity.
