Judy Reyes of Scrubs fame (among many other things) has a twin acting sister Joselin of Law and Order fame. I bet you thought she looked familiar, but couldn’t quite put your finger on it.

Besides Scrubs, Joselin can be seen in Law & Order: SVU (13 episodes), The Sopranos, and How to Make it in America.

They were born in The Bronx, New York, to immigrants from the Dominican Republic. They grew up on Brainbridge Avenue. Judy attended Hunter College in Manhattan which helped her start an acting career.

After leaving the show that made her a celeb, Scrubs, Judy guest-starred in shows  including Castle, Medium, Off the Map, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2011, she portrayed a troubled mother dealing with the return of her estranged husband into her life after his time in prison in the independent drama Gun Hill Road. She was emotionally involved with her role in the drama, as the film is set in her native Bronx, and its title refers to a real-life street that intersects Bainbridge Avenue on which Reyes grew up.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Reyes also had small supporting roles in films including Went to Coney Island on a Mission from God… Be Back by Five (1998), Bringing Out the Dead (1999), Washington Heights (2002), and Dirty (2005).

In 2001, she landed the role of Nurse Carla Espinosa on the uniquely wacky sitcom, “Scrubs.” This is the role that changed her life and made her famous. She became one of the show’s two female leads and, of course, the immediate object of surgical intern Turk’s (Donald Faison) interests. Although the show had its struggles in its first years, it enjoyed a resurgence during its fifth season, and survived all the drama. Also that season, after months of trying, Carla became pregnant. It was a good year for Judy.
