During an audition, Hawke had a microphone wire clipped to him at a screen test.
Eventually, he got a little nervous and started to pace in a circle when he took a step forward, tripped on the wire and fell on his face.
This is not the only time Ethan had problems during the audition. When he was auditioning for a new Robert Redford movie, he was so nervous that he thought he was going to feint right then and there. Luckily, he didn’t, but he didn’t get the part too.
