8. Charice Pempengco
Better known as just Charice, this lovely girl from Philippines came out of the closet exactly there. Can you imagine a better and a more exotic country to come out?
She said that this would bring her closer to her family and friends. You go girl, live your life to the fullest!
When asked about rumors surrounding her sexuality by the host in a Filipino show she replied in Filipino: “Opo, tomboy po ako,” which translates to, “Yes, I am a lesbian.”
During the interview the singer became overwhelmed with emotion and broke down in tears as she appeared to be relieved by emotional.
“Now, I feel free. I can go out of the house without fear and be certain that I’m not stepping on anybody’s toes,” she said.
Speculation started after she had radically transformed her once ultra-feminine image of long hair and dresses to a radical tomboy look.
These days the girlie image has been replaced by a short haircut and much more androgynous style clothing.
Charice – ‘the most talented girl in the world’ was originally discovered on South Korean talent show Star King back in 2007.
The singer then gained her fame by appearing on the Ellen De Generes Show before releasing her debut album in the Philippines in 2008.
“But to those who can accept me, thank you very much,” she said. “We are all equal, whether you are gay or straight.”
After her admission on a different video message aired on a different Filipino show, she stated, “I just want to say thank you, personally, to all my friends, to all the people who are supporting me, who are still there for me. Honestly, I’m very, very happy. I can’t explain how happy I am right now hearing all the positive things.”
