Jim Broadbent has had quite a career in his 35-odd years of acting. To American audiences he will be mostly known for his role as the father of Bridget Jones, a role in the last Harry Potter movie and his role(s) in Cloud Atlas. All in all, he’s been in quite a few movies and you have definitely seen him act.
Like so many British actors of his generation, he is not exactly what you would call a handsome man. In fact, you might say that his average middle-aged guy looks is what got him most of his roles. He just feels like a guy you know, calm and somehow sad looking.
You gotta love that about the Brits. When a guy like Jim can have a great career spanning decades despite looking the way he does.
