We once had the pleasure of seeing Shane MacGowan perform live as the frontman of The Pogues. Roadies first brought out a bar stool and a fan aimed at the stool. Shane then stumbled onto the stage, barely got up on the stool, carrying what looked like a nice big cup of Cola. We later learned it was Whiskey.
And as you might expect from a man like that, he does not look his best. He constantly looks like a sailor who just got out of a nasty fight. Most of his teeth are missing, his face is all cockeyed and you can almost feel the crazy in his eyes.
Still, the man knows how to make beautiful songs and, in his own way, he knows how to deliver them.
