Though Rupert Everett is one of the most talented and handsome actors of our time, the star believes that his sexuality has held his career back and that he would have achieved so much more had he been straight.
He once told the Daily Telegraph that “there’s only a certain amount of mileage you can make, as a young pretender, as a leading man, as a homosexual. There just isn’t very far you can go”. Everett also stated that celebrities spend a lot of money and time fighting for human rights in third world countries, but completely disregard their own society and pretend like their world doesn’t need fixing.
Rupert added that people keep telling him that he ruined his own career – which he admitted was true, to a certain extent, but concluded that society would have treated him completely different if he were straight.
