20. Peter Jackson
Fans could hardly recognize the former rotund Peter Jackson after his 70 pound weight loss; it’s also knocked years off his appearance. He claims that he lost weight by following a strict diet of yogurt, muesli and soup.
For exercise, he used a home gym to work out regularly. He also underwent an eye surgery during the making King Kong in 2005 and no longer wears glasses, making the change complete. Sir Peter Robert Jackson was born on 31 October 1961 in Wellington and was raised at the nearby coastal town of Pukerua Bay. When he was 16 years old, Jackson left school and began working full-time as a photo-engraver for the local newspaper.
For the 7 years he worked there, Jackson lived at home with his parents so he could save as much money as possible to spend on film equipment. Jackson began his career with the “splatstick” horror comedy Bad Taste (1987) and the black comedy Meet the Feebles (1989) before filming Braindead (1992). He is best known as the director and producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and its prequel The Hobbit trilogy.
Jackson has been awarded three Academy Awards in his career. He has also received a Golden Globe, four Saturn Awards and three BAFTAs amongst others.
